Mic Tester is a free online microphone test. Open it, allow microphone access, say a few words, and the sound waves on screen show whether your mic is picking you up. You can play the recording back to hear how you sound.
The test runs entirely in your browser. Your voice is not uploaded anywhere: the recording stays on your device and is gone when you close the page. It works in ten languages — English, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Turkish and Vietnamese.
When the test shows nothing, the guides walk through the usual causes — permissions, drivers, headsets, consoles, games and meeting apps like Discord, Zoom and Teams. They are written by Ethan Marlowe.
